Should You Repair or Replace Your AC?
There is no single rule, but these questions point you in the right direction.
Request an AC technicianHow old is it?
Older systems are more likely to need repeated repairs and are usually less efficient than new ones.
How often does it break?
Several repairs in a few years can add up to more than a replacement.
Does it keep the house comfortable?
A system that runs constantly and still cannot keep up may be undersized or worn out.
What refrigerant does it use?
Systems that use the older R-22 refrigerant can be costly to recharge, because R-22 is no longer produced in the US.
